Dhananjay Banthia : A Mighty Motivator

Motivational speaking has become a fashion these days. It was not so when Mr Dhananjay Bantia was pursuing his studies as a school boy in Cambridge School, Cuttack. Born and brought up in Cuttack and Bhubaneswar, Odisha, he had never dreamt of becoming a motivational speaker! So, when he decided to be one, it was indeed a tough decision but he decided to take the plunge anyway.

Contrary to the popular myth that ‘ A Basil leaf smells so when it is a sapling, ‘ Dhananjay was a shy kid as a school boy and even fumbled when he had to speak in public, even when he was doing his MBA. At first he was in finance, like his Dad before he ventured into motivational speaking. He struggled for more than six months, before he could get any trace of success. There were times when the remuneration was low and he had to travel by local bus, to reach his destination. Now he travels via flights and stays in star hotels and all these are arranged by his organizers. He has already travelled to 18 states of India and 19th one will be Assam!

The interim period between his days of struggle and success has made him learn few lessons of life. He has learnt that people don’t like strugglers! They don’t appreciate when you tell them about your trouble and hardship!! They bank on you when you show happiness, though you may have problems!!!

According to him, it is not an easy profession as many people guess it to be. Some people even tell him that he travels by flights, stays in star hotels and gives a lecture for an hour or two, to earn a lot. He says that what they see is only the tip of the iceberg, as these critics miss out his hours of preparation and practice before he gets ready to motivate. The life of a motivational speaker is like an oyster giving birth to a beautiful pearl after a lot of pain and struggle internally.

Moreover he gives credit to his father, who had inspired him with his life of discipline and devotion to his work in finance. The advice that his Dad gives is to make contacts to ‘Give’ and not to ‘Gain’. It has really helped him to be a good human being first and then a motivational speaker or financial advisor. He thanks his mother and wife also for his success as they have supported him all through his ordeals.

Quoting various natural calamities that he has faced like the Super Cyclone of 1999 and the Fani Cyclone of 2019, he said that at such crucial time three things were important namely Electricity, Internet and Water. He has seen enough human suffering to have a mature view of life.

Finally, Mr. Dhananjay expresses his desire to write a book and for which he writes one page each day! This proves the proverb that, “Several drops of water make an ocean.” Then he has a plan to help students to be expert by training them. He feels that he has social responsibility and he wants to fulfill that in the best possible manner along with his two other friends who share his vision. He is the Founder of Smart Acumen Consultation. He is the Resource Person of NSE Academy. He is a panel member of Investment Guru Show of OTV. He is NCFM Trainer at School of Business Management, Ravenshaw University, Cuttack and Shri Shri University, Bhubaneswar. He has conducted 550 Investor awareness sessions and several sessions on Working of Financial Market for 8000 students. The list is long indeed………………….
